On his Trade Label No. 2 (possibly used c. 1806-1807) Farthing offers work painted on paper at 2s 6d. Farthing, however, employed an artist to paint profiles for him, and I suggest that this artist was Henry Hervé I. Farthing worked at 12 Cheapside, London, mainly as a jeweller and goldsmith. In view of the short period during which Farthing's Trade Label No. 2 appears to have been used, silhouettes painted on paper (in Henry Hervé's style) would be very scarce and, if seen, would perhaps have been painted only c. 1806-1807.
