Introduction:
Jackson records in her ‘Dictionary’ a signed silhouette by J Morton dated 1827. There is some debate as to whether J Morton is in fact another, more prolific profilist by the name of Thomas Norton. However, this has not been verified and since Jackson gives no information beyond Morton’s name, it is currently impossible to describe his or her work.
