Introduction:
Dublin Street directories list McGauran as a ‘profile-painter’ for the years 1793-1796. It seems that McGauran quickly gained renown, as the Earl of Fingall was one of his clients. In his trade label, McGauran advertises that he will paint bust and full length profiles mounted in Gilt Frames. Unfortunately, no examples of his work have yet been discovered.
