Marden, F. (McKechnie Section 2)

Recorded by Jackson (Dictionary), who mentions two silhouettes (c. 1820 and c. 1830). Marden may possibly be the same artist as I. Maiden (q.v.), who was a contemporary and used a similar trade label. Marden, whose label bears no address, was probably an itinerant artist.

Jackson mentions that Marden painted on an olive-green base colour. This colour was rarely used by professional profilists; one artist who favoured it was the cutter Allport (see Section One). I have seen work in this ground colour dated 1832, but this was executed by an amateur.

Jackson records a label: 'F. MARDEN/Profilist'.
