Introduction:

V Bannister is the artist of a small number of cut profiles dated to c 1850. They appear to have been active for at least three years. It is believed that Bannister was an itinerant artist, as no address is mentioned on their trade labels. The only location suggested by collectors for his work is the Isle of Wight. Bannister’s style of cutting and painting has been compared to that of E Gerard, and detail is added rather skilfully with gold paint.
